Education has always been considered an essential step in the development of every individual. However, lack of resources makes pupils in poor countries draw their attention away from school activities.

Shilpa Joglekar, an environmentally friendly artist, is struggling to change this situation, by building fun, eco-friendly playgrounds, manufactured using only recycled items, for a minimal impact on the environment.

Shilpa's contribution is expected to make learning more appealing and reduce the alarming rates of school dropout in India, Treehugger informs.

In order to build the structures with her very own hands, she used discarded tires and recycled metal pipes. Since there is enough waste material that can be diverted from crowded landfills, her projects could expand in the near future, bringing joy to more remote villages in India.

Her project was inspired by a similar initiative developed in 2010, when Shilpa helped built another eco-friendly concept, the 'Jungle Gym' constructed in Taiwan, while depending only on recycled bamboo wood and paper-based windmills, designed by creative pupils.
