“Twilight” fans know that the third film in the franchise, “Eclipse,” is already shooting on location in Vancouver, and has been so for the past few weeks. Given the way Twilighters devour anything related to the Twilight phenomenon, but especially photos of any of the gorgeous cast members, it’s no wonder paparazzi are always lurking around the set. They are, however, disrupting the shooting, director David Slade says on his Twitter page.

According to Slade, the paps need to go, because they’re ruining important scenes and they should consider how many people work hard for them. Ironically enough, the director does not rant or get upset over why the paparazzi are there, but he does lament their presence there. For instance, the other day, they ruined a very important scene in the film, where Bella (Kristen Stewart) kisses Jacob (Taylor Lautner), one of the most crucial moments in the book, as fans already know.

“Yes we were shooting Bella and Jacob’s kiss on the mountain, its [sic] really a grueling emotional thing to have to shoot over and over.” Slade Tweets. “We had paparazzi on the ridge about 1/2mile away, their pictures will look bizarre they would have had to use 1000mm+ lenses. Really really long paparazzi lenses make everything look terrible, one snuck close to set and was kicked off, another was arrested last week. I don’t mind these pap pics, its just annoying when it stops us from shooting, or the images are completely unrepresentative of our shots. Bah. Today preparation, and the day off, tomorrow editing.” the director writes.

However, because he understands that, ultimately, it’s the fans who also stand to win from the paparazzi photos, Slade does not discontinue posting pictures from the set. If, until now, he uploaded photos of some of the crew members and even two shots of Taylor Lautner – one after makeup and one in action, catching the actor halfway in the air as he was doing a back flip – he now Tweets photos of the view from the mountain where they shot the Bella-and-Jacob scene.

“6am mountain. A black bear strayed close to us. We shoot solid through, sunburnt and tired we return at sunset.” Slade writes in the message accompanying the breathtaking photo.
