14 DAY TRIAL // “Twilight” fans who have also read the books that Summit Entertainment is now turning into films know that author Stephenie Meyer wrote the story in four books, “Twilight,” “New Moon,” “Eclipse” and “Breaking Dawn.” While the last one has not even been confirmed yet by Summit, the new addition to the cast, 15-year-old Boo Boo Stewart says the studio is actually aiming not for four but five movies as part of the “Saga.”
Speaking with Laura Saltman of Access Hollywood’s Dish of Salt, Stewart, who will play the part of Seth Clearwater in “Eclipse” (a pretty important role, as fans must know), more or less inadvertently spilled the beans on Summit’s big surprise for the fans: there will be three more movies aside from “Twilight” and “New Moon.” Or, as the actor puts it, “‘Eclipse,’ ‘Breaking Dawn’ and another one.” Unfortunately, he can’t offer more details on the fifth installment, either because he doesn’t know himself or because he’s not allowed to reveal specifics about the project.
Understandably, the moment word of the interview got out on the Internet, speculation started on what the fifth film would be about since the books stop at four. One theory widely circulated is that “The Twilight Saga” will perhaps go down the “Harry Potter” path by having the last book in the series split into two films. There is, of course, also the option of Summit having author Meyer write another book, a fifth one, that will later be turned into a film, which would be, as fans must agree, the happiest and most lucrative option by far.
Summit and Meyer have not yet responded in any way to Boo Boo Stewart’s statement. However, fans must bear in mind that there is a small chance that he might not be in the know with the specifics of the franchise, since he’s just been cast and has not even started working on “Eclipse” as he’s due to join the other stars in September. Speaking of the other members of the cast, Stewart also reveals in the same interview that he only got to meet Taylor Lautner so far, with whom he went to the same class. Nevertheless, he’s dying to start mingling with vampires and the Wolf Pack soon enough, and he’s positively thrilled at the idea of meeting British star Robert Pattinson soon – although not in the way his female fans are, he points out.
