With winter long gone, most of us are probably already feeling the need for a little break with a well-deserved spring vacation – if we haven’t done that already, that is. And, while relaxing and recharging our batteries is the easiest thing we could do, getting back on track once the holiday is over can be quite a challenge. Below are some of the tips that should make things easier for us, as presented by the girls at FitSugar.

One of the hardest things a woman has to do once the holiday is over is to return to her diet and workout routine from before, it has been said. This is why it’s essential that we bear in mind that these are things that need time and some adjusting to, because only this way we will be able to understand that no major change will happen overnight, without major negative effects, that is. Getting back to the diet and exercise routine also fits in here, so experts recommend taking things one step at a time.

Fresh off the holiday, we should consider making a program for the coming week, which would include a progressively more intensive workout plan and healthy meals. As far as the former is concerned, we must remember that the (more or less) long break from working out will certainly not fail from making itself felt, so we shouldn’t jump on the same routine we did before the holiday, unless we want to wake up feeling sore all over.

As for the latter, in order to make sure that we don’t indulge in takeouts and thus ruin whatever is left of our healthy-eating habits, the first thing we should do is to run to the grocery store and pack the fridge full with everything we need. This way, the temptation of ordering in is reduced to a minimum and, in almost no time, we’ll be back to eating healthy again.

Another thing that will help us get back on track after a holiday has a lot to do with our mental health, experts say. Returning from sunny beaches or beautiful mountaintops to the everyday routine (work, home, sleep, to sum it up in just a few words) can be harsh, and we often might find our mind is wandering when we should be focusing on something important.

In order to avoid this, we should dedicate at least half an hour a day solely to relaxing: for instance, instead of turning on the TV at night, we could crawl into bed or our favorite armchair with a good book or magazine in hand to allow ourselves to relieve the holiday experience. Daydreaming is also an excellent option, if we’re not in the mood for reading.

Either way, the idea behind a holiday is that of taking a break from everyday life, we all know that. However, it’s precisely this that can make life harder for us upon return, so we should plan the return back home and getting back on track as carefully as we do the holiday itself.
