Tequila Games says game is halfway done, but they require support in order to finish it

Polish developer Tequila games has launched the Kickstarter campaign for their latest project, a trading card game titled Earthcore: Shattered elements.

Tequila Games is a new studio branching off Tequila Mobile, who specializes on free-to-play social games, but the development team consists of industry veterans who have been working on games for around 10 years, with experience on titles such as Medal of Honor, The Sims and Tekken.

Trying to both take inspiration from existing TCGs as well as bringing a twist of their own, Earthcore: Shattered Elements is designed as a dynamic collectible card game for the PC, Mac, iOS and Android platforms that combines fast-paced tactical combat with deckbuilding and collecting.

The game features both a story-driven single-player campaign and online player vs. player modes, and the gameplay is based around a simple idea of three battling elements and their interactions. Water extinguishes fire, fire devours nature and nature is nourished by water.

The cards have various individual effects and interactions, adding a ton of strategic depth to the duels. Some add protection to other allies, some can change their element while others can move around on the battlefield.

"Earthcore is something that has been sorely missing from the market. A TCG that retains all the hallmarks of the genre, such as card collecting, tactical combat and deck-building but mercilessly trims all the fat.

"The unique thing about Earthcore is that you can play for as little as five minutes and still enjoy a full online gaming experience," explains Lukasz Deszczulka, CEO of Tequila Games.

With the first half of the development process already completed, Tequila Games is looking to raise $200k / €145k through the Kickstarter campaign in order to finish the second half of the production and release the game during Q4 2014.

"In today's market climate, with every publisher chasing the next casual hit making millions of dollars per day, funding a fully featured TCG such as Earthcore through traditional means is nearly impossible."

"With Kickstarter, we will be able to stay faithful to our original vision and finish the game with no compromise, supported by people who really believe into what we want to achieve," explains Creative Producer Radek Smektala.

The campaign will run until March 26, and Tequila Games plan to publish regular updates offering behind-the-scenes info on the development process, chapters of an audio book set in the game universe and other unique features.
