Since Intel is preparing 25 new chips, the company is preparing for the future

Motherboard BIOSes have a kernel that allows them to detect any pin-compatible processor installed in their chipset sockets, but unless they are up to date, the info on the chips won't show up properly, and some CPUs might not even work.

Since it wants to avoid any issues, and to enable those who already own one of its motherboards to immediately use one of Intel's new CPUs, EVGA has released new BIOSes for its platforms.

Specifically, the company has updates the BIOS for its Z87-based mainboards, like the feature-packed Z87 FTW, Z87 Classified, and Z87 Stinger.

You see, Intel will launch 25 New Haswell central processing units this quarter (Q2 2014). It is those chips that EVGA is preparing for.

So if you own a Z87-based EVGA platform and intend to upgrade to one of the new CPUs (they have 100 MHz better clocks but the same prices).

There is no weird process you have to go through either. EVGA has packaged the updates in such a way that it only takes a few seconds to install. After that, a quick reboot and voila! You're ready for the future.

We have the downloads ready, as well as a summary of the other things that the EVGA Z87 motherboard BIOS updates have brought (the Z87 Classified we covered separately).
