There are a drove of so-called enthusiast-grade motherboards on sale, but not many can match EVGA's Classified SR-2, which has two LGA 1366 CPU sockets and, thus, a very high performance. Seeking to provide this platform with a suitable power provider, the company has now started selling the Classified SR-2 power supply.

Basically, a variety of high-end PSUs can handle the Classified SR-2, but not many actually have a high enough output and efficiency to keep up with it and all the memory modules, processors, video cards and storage devices plugged into it.

Thus, EVGA had Antec design the eponymous Classified SR-2 power supply, a product with enough cables and rails to keep up with the voracious appetite of enthusiast-grade components.

The power supply features six 12V rails rated at 38A and comes with certain assets such as gold-plated connectors, active PFC (Power Factor Correction), an 80mm PWM fan and two knobs that enable consumers to modify the 12V voltage and even adjust the fan speed to their liking.

Needless to say, the PSU can cope with those technologies that truly make an enthusiast-grade system powerful, such as Quad SLI and Quad CrossFireX configurations, which allow NVIDIA and, respectively, ATI graphics cards to work in tandem.

“This power supply is designed around the record shattering EVGA Classified SR-2 motherboard, but is perfectly suited to meet and exceed the needs of any motherboard and graphics card combination,” the official announcement declares.

Another advantage of the product is its modular design, which lets end-users plug only the necessary cables, for better cable routing and improved in-chassis airflow.

The EVGA Classified SR-2 power supply unit has 80Pluis Silver certification (efficiency of 85%) and has already started shipping, for $359.99. Those that are interested in full information may visit the official product page that the company has set up on its website.
