EVGA, one of NVIDIA's largest board partners, has recently updated its line of GeForce-based video accelerators, with the introduction of the new GeForce GTX 285, packing a massive 2GB of 512-bit GDDR3 memory. The new card is specifically aimed at computer enthusiasts and is currently available for pre-order through the company's own website. Part of the company's FTW Edition-series, the new GTX 285 also packs a factory-overclocked graphics processing unit further enhancing its performance and providing the end-user with a high-end card.

At this time, NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 285 is the world's fastest single-GPU card on the market, featuring a 55nm GT200 GPU and 240 processing cores. Due to its performance capabilities, the card requires a dual-slot cooler to effectively remove the heat over the GPU and allow the card to perform at optimum parameters. With the latest update from EVGA, technology and gaming enthusiasts will be offered the opportunity to further increase the performance of the reference GTX 285 with an increased memory capacity and a factory-overclocked GPU.

EVGA's GeForce GTX 285 2GB FTW Edition is equipped 2GB of GDDR3 memory, working at 2448MHz, up from 1GB of 512-bit GDDR3 memory on the reference card. In addition, EVGA has also done some tweaking to the card's high-end GPU, providing the end-user with a clock increase of 54MHz, from 648MHz (stock) to 702MHz (EVGA card). The Shader frequency has also been raised to 1584MHz from 1476, while the memory has been set to work at 2484MHz. As with other NVIDIA-based cards, the new GTX 285 from EVGA will also provide support for the chip maker's technologies, including CUDA, SLI and PhysX.

Although the card is not yet available in stock, EVGA has listed it at US$439.99, with the end-user being offered the opportunity to receive a notification once it becomes available.
