To prevent laptops from frying whatever laps they sit on

With summer coming up, consumers will have to make sure that their mobile PCs can stand the loving gaze of the sun when going outdoors or even when at home, considering that room temperatures usually rise during this period. This means that owners of especially temperamental laptops will have to get themselves an extra cooling mechanism unless they like their machines hotter than the average PCs. Knowing this, EVERCOOL has decided to unleash two cooling solutions of its own, known as the FIT and the Zodiac.

The Zodiac is a notebook stand that uses the conductivity of aluminum to dissipate heat produced by notebooks. Coming in black and white colors, the stand has a 120mm fan in the center, acting like the “sun” around which the 12 star signs “revolve.” The fan (the sun in this case) spins at 800mm per second and operates at low noise. The Zodiac also features an ergonomic height, which provides comfort, and 12 LEDs that illuminate each star sign.

The FIT is not exactly what one would think of when hearing of a notebook cooler. Instead of being a stand with special fittings and conductive materials meant to eliminate the excess heat, like the Zodiac, the FIT is actually a small gadget that connects to the wind outlet of a notebook to eliminate the hot air from within.

It also has adjustable angles, which means it can meet different wind outlet heights, making it compatible with many notebook brands. It will also work on devices with screen sizes between nine and 18 inches. This particular invention also has the advantages of being lightweight and, thus, it is extremely easy to carry around.

The FIT gained patent certifications in several countries, including Taiwan and China, and was even given the 18th “Taiwan Excellence 2010” award. It can be found listed by online retailers, with a price tag of roughly $17, whereas the Zodiac costs around $21-$22.
