Video game developer CCP and Japanese company Nexon Co. have announced that they are working together to create a fully localized client for the space-based science fiction MMO EVE Online and to launch a Japanese version of it during the fall of this year.

Full localization will mean that the entire game will be accessible in Japanese, allowing gamers to experience one of the most complex and exciting MMO projects on the market.

At the moment, there are more than 350,000 players enjoying EVE Online in English, German and Russian and the developers at CCP are saying that they are planning more localization projects in the future.

The MMO stands out from the crowd of similar games because all the players engaged share the same game universe and because of the complex political meta game that veteran players are engaged in.

Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, who is the chief executive officer of CCP, has stated, “Japanese players have always been an essential part of the EVE Online community. Having considered Nexon’s excellent reputation as Asia’s leading game developer and publisher, they were the obvious choice in who the best possible partner would be to help us make the game more accessible to our growing fan base in Japan.”

Seung-Woo Choi, who is an executive working at Nexon Co., Ltd, has added, “We are pleased to have this opportunity to be a part of CCP’s ongoing plans to provide premium services to their subscribers. Our shared commitment to quality and excellence is the ultimate cornerstone from which to build an even greater gaming experience for Japanese video game enthusiasts.”

The Japanese version of EVE Online will use the Nexon portal site and the company's billing system.

CCP is currently working on Dust 514, a shooter based around the same universe that will allow players to affect the main EVE Online game, with the launch date set for 2012.
