Britt had her car towed away, was none too happy about it

On April 6, ESPN reporter Britt McHenry tweeted that she just had the most awful ending to an otherwise amazing Sunday when, coming out from the restaurant she just had dinner at, she saw that her car had been towed away.

That tweet is now no longer online, but Britt was still pretty mad about it when she went to get back her car from the tow-lot, and she unloaded on the tow truck attendant in the meanest fashion possible. The rant cost her a week’s pay because she’s been suspended. For now.

Reporter attacks attendant for her weight, teeth and smarts

You can see the video of the rant at the end of this post. *Please note that it contains a couple of instances of offensive language, so discretion is recommended when viewing it.

You can see Britt with a friend, breathing fire through her nose because she has to pay to get her car back. You can also see her smirking into the camera when the attendant warns her to stay civil because the place has surveillance.

She obviously doesn’t care: she’s on TV, she’s famous and in the headlines, and if she wants, she can sue the entire place, including the attendant who, apparently, offends her by being stupid and ugly.

McHenry continues to mock the attendant, saying that maybe if she, Britt, didn’t have a degree or would be stupid or had teeth missing, she too could work in such a place as a tow-lot. She also tells the woman to “lose some weight, babygirl,” and is generally very mean and nasty to her.

McHenry is suspended, sorry

Shortly after the video emerged online and started getting plenty of attention, ESPN announced they would be suspending McHenry for one week. Rumor has it that they’re considering letting her go for good.

This would be the right course of action, voices online are saying: this woman is so full of herself and with such poor manners that she doesn’t deserve a career in the media, no matter how hard she worked for it, they’re saying.

For the record, McHenry has issued an apology on her official Twitter feed, saying she would not have said all those things had she not been in a foul mood. She doesn’t even believe the nasty stuff she said to the female attendant, she insists.

“As frustrated as I was, I should always choose to be respectful and take the high road. I am so sorry for my actions and will learn from this mistake,” she says.

Watch the video of her rant and then drop us a line in the comments: do you think McHenry is only saying those things because she’s upset and frustrated and that she doesn’t mean them?
