Going from water blocks and radiators to fans isn't such a big “branching out,” all things considered, if it can be called that at all. But EK did not have any in-house engineered fans before, so it actually seems quite excited about it.
The company has formally launched the EK-Vardar, or simply Vardar. A fan whose name is based on the cold northwesterly wind blowing from the mountains down to the valleys of Macedonia. A ravine wind enhanced by a channeling effect when rushing down through the Moravia-Vardar gap.
EK-Vardar is a high-pressure fan with high quality motor and Double Ball bearing assembly.
It should have a lifespan of 50,000 hours, with variable performance due to phase-width modulation (PWM). Meaning that it will spin slower or faster depending on how much heat it has to deal with.
Finally, the fan has a sealed-edge fan casing with a classic, yet effective square shape. That way, both push and pull pressure modes will work just as well, with no hydraulic losses.
EK intends for the EK-Vardar to be used on radiators, both its own and those from other companies. That's why it ships it with four self-tapping screws, all pre-sleeved (F1-F4: black, FF5: red). Sadly, the price was not disclosed.
