The high-end motherboard gets an equally high-end cooler

EK continues to release water cooling products for PC hardware, the latest being aimed at a motherboard instead of CPUs or graphics cards, a motherboard from ASRock.

The mainboard in question, as we have said in the title, is the Z77 Extreme11, and the name of the waterblock is EK-FB ASR Z77 Extreme11.

It directly cools the Z77 southbridge (PCH), PLX PEX 8474 PCIe lane splitter, as well as the LSI SAS2308 control hub and power regulation (VRM / MOSFETs) module.

In other words, all the components that generate heat will have it countered by the cool water flowing between the base and top.

Speaking of which, EK was very specific in what materials it used, creating the base out of nickel-plated electrolytic copper and the top from quality POM Acetal material.

The sealing is made of quality rubber gaskets, and the nickel plated brass screw-in standoffs are pre-installed, making it easy to strap the cooler onto the motherboard.

Once the product is in place, it actually looks quite uncanny, with a zig-zag shape of sorts.

The product won't be good for extreme overclocking, since nothing short of liquid nitrogen or helium is enough when trying to set an insane record.

For all other situations, though, EK has the mainboard covered, both literally and figuratively. Of course, buyers will need to buy reservoirs, pumps and the rest separately.

As a final asset, the newcomer is a high flow waterblock, meaning that it can be easily used with systems with weaker water pumps. It will make life easier for people who don't have unlimited funds but really want a water cooling system.

EK-FB ASR Z77 Extreme11 has a MSRP (manufacturer suggested retail price) of 120.95 Euro / $120.95-158.08.

Shipments should begin on April 16, 2013, through the EK Webshop and Partner Reseller Network, and pre-orders can already be made.
