EDS today announced it has been selected as a main provider for the U.S. Army's Information Technology Enterprise Solutions - 2 Services (ITES-2S) contract. EDS is one of 11 companies who were awarded contracts under the nine-year, $20 billion Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) agreement.

EDS has assembled a team of more than 65 companies to support ITES-2S, all being members of the EDS Agility Alliance - a coalition of market leading technology and business services providers such as Cisco, Dell, EMC, Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, Sun Microsystems, Towers Perrin, and Xerox.

In addition to the Army, the Department of Defense and other federal agencies can use the ITES-2S contract to purchase products and information technology (IT) services, including business process re-engineering, information systems security, information assurance, network support, systems operations and maintenance, program management, enterprise design, integration and consolidation and education and training.

"The EDS ITES-2S team has a breadth of experience in performance-based contracting few of our competitors can match," said Jim Duffey, general manager EDS U.S. Public Sector. "We are eager to leverage that experience to help the Army achieve greater returns on its IT investments."

EDS is said to manage more than three million desktops and 2.4 billion customer interactions annually, including 25 million help desk support calls in 34 languages, and it will soon provide program and project management as well as systems operations and maintenance services for some of the largest enterprise IT efforts in the world.

EDS is a leading global technology services company delivering a portfolio of information technology and business process outsourcing services to clients in the manufacturing, financial services, healthcare, communications, energy, transportation, and consumer and retail industries and to governments around the world.
