Electronic Arts has just announced that its free-to-play titles, which include hits like Battlefield Heroes or Need for Speed World, have reached over 25 million users worldwide, so free content is now being dispatched to thank them for their support.

EA has been a big proponent of free-to-play games that rely on microtransactions for premium content. As such, the company has released many titles based on its existing franchises, from Battlefield Heroes to Need for Speed World, Battlefield Play4Free, Dragon Age Legends, Battleforge or Lord of Ultima.

Now, according to the company, all these games have reached a combined total of 25 million users. The most successful titles were Battlefield Heroes and NFS World, each with over 10 million players.

“Developing a community of 25 million players is a remarkable achievement. It is a testament to the explosive growth of the free-to-play market and a reflection of EA’s commitment to spearheading the digital transformation. We plan to continue to innovate in the category, introduce new gameplay that delights players and keeps them coming back for more,” said Sean Decker, Play4Free, Vice President. “For our teams, this is an incredibly exciting time to be making games as the audience continues to grow and diversify.”

In order to properly celebrate this impressive achievement, EA has posted two special codes that can be redeemed for goodies. As such, Battlefield Heroes players need to use the following promo code, EQ9M-TYYT-TXR3-5GU3, which unlocks 300 Battlefunds. NFS World racers can use this promo code, EWPD-3KGA-VBVF-9HYS, for 750 SpeedBoost points.

EA also posted a few impressive stats about its two most popular games, saying that “over 8 billion bullets have been fired, with nearly 532 million in-game kills” being recorded in Battlefield Heroes. In NFS World, “over 15 million races and 22 million pursuits are logged every month” and that gamers from 237 countries have experienced the racing title.

Other free-to-play games are coming from EA this year, with the likes of Command & Conquer Tiberium Alliances or Warhammer: Wrath of Heroes arriving in the near future.
