The development team at EA Sports working on FIFA 14 on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 believes that the new Artificial Intelligence is so powerful that it can almost predict the actions of the player before he thinks of them.

David Rutter, who leads the team working on the football sim, tells Eurogamer that “We wanted to improve the behaviours of the players and the AI. A lot of that is around physics and decision making and the way they move, and we’ve got roughly four times the processing of decisions.”

FIFA 14 on the next generation of consoles is being created using an all new Ignite engine, which cannot be used on the current generation of devices or the PC.

Rutter adds, “The feature’s called Pro Instincts, and it’s based around the processing power of the new consoles allowing us to have players almost predict the future. This new generation of consoles we have every nuance of possible collision, and trying to position himself not to collide.”

The new FIFA will also have ten times more animations on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 and will run in native 1080p resolution.

The team has also improved the overall look of stadiums and crowds and wants to make the entire match day experience as close to the real thing as possible.

All versions of the game will also bring better physics and a bigger focus on how a good player can use his skill in order to turn around the fortunes of his team on the pitch.

EA Sports also says that the new FIFA Ultimate Team will offer more depth for players who are looking to assemble teams and then play against their friends online.

A Legends mode for it will be offered exclusively on Xbox devices.

FIFA 14 will be out on the current gen of devices and the PC on September 24 in North America and three days later in Europe.
