Electronic Arts has announced more details about the upcoming Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online while also confirming that they plan to release Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 for the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 from Sony, the Nintendo Wii and the iPhone from Apple at some point during June of this year. It's pretty clear that the features to be found in the Online release will form the basis for the eleventh golf simulation featuring Tiger Woods.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online is playable directly through a browser, with no installation of software required. The player will begin their career playing the lower ranked tournaments and as they progress, they will be able to become golfing legends.

Daily challenges will be offered to encourage steady play, while each player will also compete for fans and for sponsors that will be able to offer additional experience. The developers at EA Sports also promise better putting mechanics and better simulation of wind patterns. A store will permit in-game currency to be exchanged for better equipment that can enhance a player’s game.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online will be funded through subscriptions and Electronic Arts is saying that a variety of plans will be delivered to players, depending on how much they are interested in participating. The release date is scheduled for the first few months of 2010.

Mike Taramykin, an executive producer on the Tiger Woods PGA series, said that “During beta testing we’ve already seen tremendous participation and enthusiasm from golf fans around the world for Tiger Woods PGA TOUR Online. We’re looking forward to offering all players the opportunity to preview the game for free in the coming weeks. Also, during open beta gamers can invite others to play via Facebook and we continue to encourage the community to help to drive the game’s evolution and development.”
