Quite a lot of games have begun searching for funding on Kickstarter website. That’s why Electronic Arts has decided to make the lives of these developers easier by offering them three months of free distribution on its Origin service on the PC, with Wasteland 2 being the first title to benefit from the deal.

While crowd-funding website Kickstarter was popular for all sorts of projects, the success of Double Fine’s Adventure game, which raked in many millions, made it an ideal place for other developers to search for money from their fans.

Now, as more and more impressive titles are seeking funding, Electronic Arts has announced a special initiative to bring their games onto the PC through its Origin digital distribution service.

As such, EA is offering developers the chance to sell their games through Origin, thereby reaching around 12 million registered users worldwide, without having to pay a distribution fee for 90 days.

"The public support for crowd-funding creative game ideas coming from small developers today is nothing short of phenomenal,” EA said.

"It's also incredibly healthy for the gaming industry. Gamers around the world deserve a chance to play every great new game, and by waiving distribution fees on Origin we can help make that a reality for successfully crowd-funded developers," the company added.

The first Kickstarter-funded game to take advantage of this offer from EA is Wasteland 2, which managed to get $2.9 million (€2.26 million) from fans earlier this month.

"I have had a long relationship with EA and it is great to see them recognize and support the crowd-funded games model," said inXile CEO Brian Fargo. "Having Origin waive their distribution fees for 90 days for fan funded games is a major economic bonus for small developers. We look forward to bringing Wasteland 2 to the Origin audience.”

Given this pretty tempting offer, you can expect more game projects from Kickstarter to soon make deals with EA and sell their games on Origin.
