The launch of next-gen consoles is about one month away and the development team at EA Sports is ready to give fans of FIFA 14 more information on how the new Ignite engine will change their football sim experience.

One of the most interesting elements that the Ignite engine brings is the Elite Technique feature, which introduces more than 1,000 new animations for the players and allows them to show off hundreds of more skills and behavior.

The team states on the official FIFA 14 site that, “New touch passes, slices and lobs have been added, along with behaviors like off-balance shots, panic turns, missed shot reactions and more.”

For the first time in the franchise, headers will be more competitive, with more options for the power, the direction and the angle when players are in the air.

EA Sports also says that players involved in a particular move will be able to make decisions four times faster than on the Xbox 360, the PC or the PlayStation 3.

The changes are offered both on the offensive and the defensive and will allow AI-controlled teammates to behave more realistically.

The studio adds, “Players will actually interact with sideline characters throughout the match, rushing towards ball boys if the clock is winding down late in the match. In the build-up to corners, players will jockey for position in the box.”

Features like True Motion and Precision Movement that gamers have already experienced will also be enhanced when delivered via the Ignite engine.

The core gameplay modes of FIFA 14, including Ultimate Team, will also be offered on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.

Fans who want to move from current to next-gen consoles will be able to upgrade their copy of the game at various retailers.
