A report over at 9to5mac reveals that Electronic Arts confirmed a version of Rock Band for the iPhone and iPod touch during a keynote address at the CTIA mobile trade show yesterday. The port was initially unveiled by MobileCrunch staff while “wandering the halls of CTIA convention in San Diego,” when they “spotted a small kiosk dedicated to Rock Band Mobile.”

According to the MobileCrunch story, there were no iPhones featured at the booth, but only an LCD screen that was “endlessly looping through a demo reel of EA Mobile’s portfolio – and therein lied the gold. Right at the end of the reel, it pops up clear as day: Rock Band for iPhone and iPod Touch.”

The iPhone looked as it would feature pretty much the same gameplay as the console counterparts, with notes flowing down the fretboard and guitar-pick-shaped buttons. The app was also said to have premium content, as well as four-player multiplayer via Bluetooth. All this, and more, is now confirmed by Electronic Arts.

Rock Band for iPhone, iPod touch - gameplay screenshots

Electronic Arts via 9to5mac According to the 9to5mac report, Rock Band for iPhone comes with 15 songs, “familiar tracks from past and present - with 5 additional songs that you can unlock as you complete the World Tour, as well as options to buy more.” Citing another website that covered the subject (Mashable), the report goes to inform (more like confirm again) that Rock Band for iPhone will offer single-player, multiplayer over Bluetooth, as well as Facebook Connect integration.

As if the news wasn’t exciting enough for fans of the immensely popular music game and owners of an Apple handset, the report also includes screenshots of the game in action, some of which we took the liberty of posting on Softpedia as well. Lastly, Rock Band for iPhone and iPod touch has been submitted to the App Store for approval, and is expected to hit the venue later this month.
