New games will start appearing on the console

The PSP is one of the most popular handheld video game consoles currently on the market, but a lot of the 50 million units sold haven't been attributed to the big title library, but to the other non-game features the device has, like music or video playback.

However, it definitely seems that video games will make a comeback on Sony's device, as more and more companies are announcing brand new titles for it, which, coupled with the new features that are implemented through firmware updates, will make the PSP very popular once more.

The newest company to endorse the Japanese handheld is Electronic Arts, which, after announcing that the Army of Two sequel will be appearing on the PSP, has now revealed that the upcoming new IP based on Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy, Dante's Inferno, will also be appearing on Sony's portable device.

This version will be made by EA Redwood Shores, which is taking care of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 iterations, in collaboration with Artificial Mind and Movement (A2M). The game is set to simultaneously appear on all of the three consoles next year, but nothing concrete is revealed about a possible PC version.

“Our team and the team at A2M are taking the vision for Dante’s Inferno and translating it directly to the PSP,” Jonathan Knight, executive producer and creative director on Dante’s Inferno, said. “PSP owners can expect to get the same level of fast, responsive gameplay through all nine detailed and unique circles of hell we are aiming to achieve on the consoles.”

From what is known at the moment, Dante's Inferno is a cross between last year's Dead Space, which was the creation of the same Redwood Shores studio, and Sony's God of War series, both of which are extremely appreciated titles by fans and critics alike. Hopefully, we will soon find out more things about it.
