Nintendo is one of the biggest companies active in both the software and hardware market of the gaming industry. Its Wii and DS consoles have experienced unrivaled popularity with a huge number of people, and its franchises, such as Mario or Zelda, are selling like the proverbial hotcakes even though a lot of time has passed since the release of their latest iterations.

But one new project that has grasped the world for Nintendo is Wii Fit, the game that helps people exercise and thus ensure that they stay healthy and live a good life. Bundled with the Wii Balance Board, this game has been enjoying a massive amount of popularity worldwide, surpassing hardcore games such as Halo 3.

Before E3, we talked about the fact that Nintendo registered a patent in its native Japan related to Wii Fit Plus. Rumors concerned the fact that this might be an add-on for the game or even a full pledged sequel that would feature new exercises or even the use of the Wii Motion Plus peripheral, which will be launched in the following weeks.

During its E3 press conference, the Japanese company officially unveiled Wii Fit Plus, which is basically an update to the original Wii Fit. It brings six new training exercises and fifteen fresh balance board minigames that include juggling, skateboarding or running activities. As a bonus, users will be able to set up exercise routines in order to work out a specific part of their body.

Due out this fall, Wii Fit Plus will be released in both a bundle with the Balance Board but also as a standalone game for people who already have the expensive peripheral from the first Wii Fit. Here is a trailer that showcases the gameplay modes of this fresh title.
