There will be two bundles including the system and games in September and October, respectively

The E3 has hosted so many events in its grand opening that I couldn't even decide what to begin with. However, no one can argue that Sony's new PSP is definitely something major to talk about. Yes, Sony has indeed presented their slimmer, improved PSP (apparently, not going to be called PSP2), which looked pretty much identical to the original, as 1UP reports.

To be precise, "when Sony president Kaz Hirai held up the new PSP, most attendees and viewers probably thought it was the original," the gaming site reports, "as Sony has decided to go the route of a minor upgrade instead of a wildly different PSP2."

Major changes occurring with the new system are of course to be noticed in the dimensions, making it slimmer by 19% and lighter by 33%. As hinted before, the changes lead to a longer lasting battery implicitly, as the new, slimmer LED screen takes about 4 times less juice out of the battery than the original PSP, sporting an LCD screen.

Another impressive feature showed at Sony's presentation was video output. As the same gaming site mentioned above reports, "in an attempt to push UMD sales" the feature will allow "gamers to watch UMD movies, play games, or browse photos on their television. Hirai demonstrated this ability with a UMD of Spider-Man 2, showing that the output for the new PSP is very high-quality. The PSP can be used to control what's on-screen, be it movie or game."

Also, there will be two launching bundles in September and October, respectively. The first will be featuring an ice silver casing, coming in an entertainment pack containing the system, a 1GB memory stick, a copy of the beloved PSP title Daxter, and a Family Guy UMD. The second, launching in October, will be "the limited-edition Star Wars PSP." This system will have a white casing, featuring a black imprint of Darth Vader on the back. Packaged with the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront: Rogue Squadron, the bundle (the same as the first) will retail for $199.99.

Unfortunately, a picture of the thing itself isn't available momentarily, but expect new details and a first glimpse at it soon.
