Racing is one of the game genres that should never go out of style and the new Need for Speed: Rivals is a title that manages to capture the core elements of the series while also introducing a solid dose of innovation.

The new racing experience is focused on the traditional conflict between racers and cops and gives each side more tools than ever to take their rivals out while simplifying the game experience without using any core element of the franchise.

Hot Pursuit is the most obvious reference point and the game certainly knows that two types of gameplay are required to keep the entire experience interesting and engaging.

Developer Ghosts Games understands how good Criterion is as a racing game developer and is using many of the elements that the older studio introduced to the genre, including the focus on a myriad of individual challenges that a player can complete in order to score.

At the same time, the team is aiming to create a big shared world that allows gamers to join at any time, meet their friends and compete against them in a number of interesting events.

Need for Speed: Rivals is a fast game, a racing experience that delivers quite a bit of adrenaline and challenges the player to perform to the best of his abilities.

I have played as a racer and it was thrilling to use my skills and the power of the Ferrari I drove to stay away from the cops and try to do better than my competitors.

The game can be hectic at times but once one finds a rhythm, it's a solid racing experience that uses the best of the Need for Speed universe.

Need for Speed: Rivals will be launched on the PC and current-generation devices on November 19 of this year and the racing title will also get versions for the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the Xbox One from Microsoft.
