I was clearly not prepared for E3 2011, for the scale, for the masses of people and for the constant fight of getting pictures and access, even though I have also reported last year on the gamescom event that takes place in Cologne.

After having my flight into Los Angeles delayed for some time yesterday and some jetlag issues, I arrived at the press registration desk to pick up my real world badge and did so in minutes, even though I expected masses of journalists from all over the world to try the same and crush me in.

I then saw the lines formed at both the South and the West Hall in anticipation of the official show opening at 12:00 sharp and became a bit discouraged, which resulted in me ditching the queues and taking on the Into the Pixel art exhibition and exploring the outside of the halls for a while.

At about 12.45 I managed to get into the South Hall, the space that then swallowed up close to 6 hours of my life that I barely felt go by.

I played some Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, I saw demos for Metro: Last Light and XCOM and explored the offerings of other publishers.

The South Hall Prize for Best Presentation goes to Activision, which focused on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (looks like pushing the series even more forward towards over the top military jargon and 30 seconds of action), Prototype 2 and a new Spyro game that has a trailer that needs to be watched for the character taglines (example: Fear the Fish).

Square Enix also had a nice set up for its stand and a nice long Deus Ex: Human Revolution trailer and a big presence for Final Fantasy XIII-2.

I still need to look closer at the Ubisoft presentation, but tomorrow it is time to focus on the Electronic Arts line up and to take a look in West Hall.
