Day 2 means that I finally managed to get to the West Hall of the Los Angeles Convention Center but also the day when I had quite a few video games from Electronic Arts on my plate, with the highlights being Mass Effect 3 and Battlefield 3.

Number 3 might be a lucky one for the developers at DICE and BioWare and both presentations were pretty amazing, with an extra mention for Mass Effect 3, which is earlier in the production cycle.

The entire line up from Electronic Arts looks pretty strong, including mainstays like FIFA 12 and Madden NFL 12, and the company would do well to launch Star Wars: The Old Republic as soon as possible to show all gamers what a select few have experienced behind close doors.

I also managed to swing to the stands of Nintendo, which just announced the existence of the Wii U home console, which could be seen in action, and Sony, where the PlayStation Vita was on show but the lines to get a hands on were closed off by the time I arrived.

It’s interesting to see how the energy changes throughout the day at the E3 2011 trade show, with the crowds hungry, almost hungry for games in the morning, forming lines to get to enter the halls as early as possible and their stamina getting depleted by about 16 to 17 in the afternoon, when most people find the nearest wall, drop their bags and just use a laptop or smartphone while others spend time in the food courts.

It’s hard to see all that E3 has to offer and even harder to keep up the enthusiasm for all the hours of the three official show days but there’s a lot of love for gaming and for particular games clearly visible in those who attend and that love seems to give people the energy for endless floor travels, meetings and then the writing of news.
