SPIRIT DSP, a leading developer of voice and video software engines based in Thailand, recently announced that E-Ten, the Taiwanese manufacturer of mobile devices, has selected its voice solutions to be embedded into E-Ten branded products.

SPIRIT's technology is already used in lots of Windows Mobile devices manufactured by leading companies, and its advanced solutions, which include full-duplex echo-free voice, will allow E-Ten to come up with Pocket PCs and smartphones that offer a high-end voice quality.

Talking about the new deal with E-Ten, Alex Kravchenko, vice president of sales at SPIRIT, stated: "The Asia Pacific market, where SPIRIT Voice and Video Engines are well-established, is the largest world factory for communications equipment: 9 out of every 10 devices are produced in this region. Additionally, all the major Taiwanese OEMs are already SPIRIT customers and benefit from SPIRIT's high-quality voice and video software engines. We are very glad that E-TEN finally turned to SPIRIT to gain outstanding voice quality and resource efficiency. They join our established and growing list of brand name customers in mobile device manufacturers including Arima, Compal, HTC, Quanta and others."

Hawk Wu, PM director at E-TEN, further said: "We consider SPIRIT a world leading and widely recognized provider of mobile voice and video processing solutions, with a deep and strong deployment history. With SPIRIT’s high quality voice and instant AEC adaptation of voice enhancement to new handset designs, coupled with resource availability and fast time-to-market integration, we will definitely meet the increasing customer expectation for communications in our current and future mobile products."

Currently being acquired by Acer, world's third largest computer manufacturer, E-Ten produces the Glofiish line-up of handsets, which became quite successful lately. Some of E-Ten's new Pocket PCs (like the Glofiish DX900) are seen as tough competitors on the Windows Mobile market, and with SPIRIT's voice solution they now have higher chances to attract customers from all over the world.
