Or just another fake?

Even though the PMA08 event is over, the rumor mill has not run out of wind as there are images and specs of a possible future Olympus DSLR circulating on the Internet. Although the company has a new range of digital single lens reflex cameras aimed at various market segments, and by new I mean 2007-2008, it would seem that a strange model is lurking in Olympus' laboratories. Either that or it's just another glorious fake.

The camera you see in the image on the left is a supposed successor to the 2006-released E330, the first DSLR with Live View. If you thought the E-330's design was strange, the rumored E430 looks like an alien creation. Its features are not shabby either, but nothing spectacular.

The heart of the camera will be a CCD sensor (a bit strange considering that Olympus usually goes with with Live MOS units) able to shift to compensate for unwanted camera movement. As expected, it will have Live View technology (probably an improved version), but the rumored camera will incorporate a flip-out type 2.5-inch LCD monitor, similarly to the current flagship model, the E-3.

Other features rumored by photo-forum.net include a faster USB interface, a wired remote option and "slightly higher continuous shooting frame rate and larger raw buffer".

As you can see, not quite jaw-dropping. However, if the E-430 is for real, Olympus will surely bank its money on the reduced dimensions and out-of-this-world design.

Previous rumors about Sony, Nikon and Pentax cameras proved to be pretty accurate, so it's not impossible that this E-430 is brewing in Olympus' laboratories. However, a hefty grain of salt is highly recommended.
