The availability of Dyne:bolic version 2.5.2 was announced by Denis "Jaromil" Rojo.

Dyne:bolic was started six years ago, including code from hundreds of programmers all around the world, with a strong community made up of artists, teachers and developers.

Dyne:bolic GNU/Linux is a Live CD that includes an entire operating system, working directly from boot, without the need to install or change anything on the hard disk. If you want to install it on your computer, you'll have to copy the /dyne directory on your system.

In version 2.5.2, the system got stabilized for the final release of the dyne:II series. This edition is a major bugfix for usb detection, international keyboard input, firewire video capture and playback, encrypted nesting and more.

Some new applications included in 2.5.2 are darkice/snow, oggfwd and dvgrab for minimalistic commandline streaming receipts. Also, software like Blender, FreeJ and Cinelerra has been updated. If you want more info about Dyne:bolic, you will find a lot more in "The User's Manual", because it has been completed with more information.

Here are some new dyne:II core features:

■ It can boot from CD, network and USB stick, the perfect solution for thin clients ■ It is a multiuser operating system, and your private data can be encrypted ■ Dyne:II includes all compiler and development tools needed to build dyne ■ You can repack a new Live CD by just using a CD-RW and a hard disk. ■ The applications are sufficient, and there is no need to download anything else

If you want to upgrade from a previous version, you will only have to replace the /dyne directory with the new one, or run the CD and answer "Yes", when you're asked about the upgrade.

If you want to upgrade and encrypt your nested Dyne:bolic distribution, the easiest way to do it is to backup your home data on the harddisk somewhere outside the nest, then create a new encrypted one overwriting the old nest. Finally, you will import manually your data into the newly-encrypted one.

You can download Dyne:bolic 2.5.2 right now from Softpedia!
