A new release of the software development kit for Microsoft Dynamics CRM is now available for download, per the Redmond company’s promise that it would update the resource regularly. The Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Software Development Kit (SDK) offers sample code for projects detailed in the accompanying documentation, but also additional featured samples, according to the Redmond company. In addition, the SDK also provides helper code, and tools to streamline the development process, but also visual style guidelines for developers to tailor CRM customizations to the product.

John O'Donnell, Microsoft Dynamics ISV architect evangelist, highlighted two additions to version 4.0.12 of the SDK, namely Advanced Developer Extensions and Authentication for Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online.

“Advanced Developer Extensions for Microsoft Dynamics CRM, also referred to as Microsoft xRM, is a new set of tools included in the Microsoft Dynamics CRM SDK that simplifies the development of Internet-enabled applications that interact with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. It uses well known ADO.NET technologies. This new toolkit makes it easy for you to build an agile, integrated Web solution,” O'Donnell stated.

At the same time, Microsoft had “added new authentication documentation and sample code for Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online that does not require using certificates, making it easier for you to write code for your online solutions,” he explained. The last iteration of the software development kit, version 4.0.10, was released at the start of November 2010. Dynamics CRM SDK 4.0.12 is obviously designed as a replacement of the previous version.

As early adopters test-driving Microsoft’s customer relation management solutions already know, the company offered the third Community Technology Preview (CPT) of the next version of Dynamics CRM Codename 'CRM5' in March 2010. Last month, the Redmond company also revealed that Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online global availability was planned for the second half of this year.
