Microsoft is gearing up for the general availability of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, and while urging application developers to adapt their code to the latest iteration of Windows client and server platforms, the company is doing the same with its own software. An illustrative example in this regard is Dynamics AX 4.0 and Dynamics AX 2009. The software giant has announced that various releases from the Dynamics AX product lineup have been updated in order to ensure that they will play nice with Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.

“The Microsoft Dynamics AX Sustained Engineering team is proud to announce the following compatibility between the released versions of Microsoft Dynamics AX and the Release Candidate of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2: Windows 7 - Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 SP2 and Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 RTM and SP1 (supported as a client only, in 32 bits and 64 bits mode),” revealed Fee Nolan, partner technology specialist in the UK Microsoft Dynamics team.

Of course that Microsoft did not focus exclusively on Windows 7. The company also worked to drive compatibility between Windows Server 2008 R2 and Dynamics AX. According to the software giant, the successor of Windows Server 2008 is compatible with Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 SP2 and Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 RTM and SP1 (operating System Supported in 64 bits only). Nolan promised that Microsoft would update the System Requirements of Dynamics AX 4 and 2009 on Customer Source and Partner Source soon.

“Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 is a comprehensive business management solution, also called ERP-solution, for midsize and larger organizations that works like and with familiar Microsoft software. Microsoft Dynamics AX is built to make it easy to do business across locations and countries, by consolidating and standardizing processes, helping to improve productivity, providing visibility across your organization, and helping to simplify compliance. With Microsoft Dynamics AX, you can be confident your business management solution is—and will continue to be—relevant to the needs of your people and the demands of your industry and business,” reads the official description of Dynamics AX from Microsoft.
