Later today, Microsoft will host the virtual launch of Dynamics AX 2012, with registration for the event still open.

In all fairness, the Redmond company has already wrapped up the development process of Dynamics AX 2012, and even made the enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution available to customers.

But, as it has happened before, RTM, general availability and launch are not deadlines that coincide.

The Dynamics AX 2012 Virtual Launch is scheduled to start Thursday, September 8 at 9:00 a.m. P.T., and Microsoft is stressing that top executives will address participants.

“The free 90 minute online event includes presentations by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, Microsoft Business Solutions President Kirill Tatarinov and Gartner analyst Nigel Montgomery, as well as product demonstrations and a customer panel featuring JJ Food Service Limited,” Microsoft revealed.

“Event attendees will also have the opportunity to collaborate with peers via community forums and chat one-on-one with product experts.”

Dynamics AX 2012 became available to customers worldwide at the start of August 2011, over a month ago.

Microsoft released the ERP product in no less than 25 countries, with some 23 localized flavors offered from day one of GA.

In early August, the software giant has underlined that Dynamics AX 2012 had hit just the first stage of the availability process, and that customers in additional markets around the world would start getting the ERP solution.

“Why should you attend this virtual launch? Maybe your business has struggled with ERP adoption and needs an easier, more flexible solution. Maybe you are looking to gain insight into your businesses operations through a single solution,” Microsoft added.

“Regardless of the reason, every business faces change at some point. It’s necessary that you anticipate, plan for, and embrace those fluctuations. Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 can help your business do just that with comprehensive, core ERP functionality that is purpose built for a variety of industries including manufacturing, retail, public sector, services and distribution.”
