Although designed as an enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution, the next version of Dynamics AX is also perfectly tailored to the needs of the public sector, Microsoft reveals. The company has a presence at the Government Finance Officers Association Annual Conference, where it opted to highlight the upcoming Dynamics AX 2012.

According to Charlie Johnson, global industry product director, public sector, Microsoft Dynamics, Dynamics AX 2012 has what it takes for public sector organizations to optimize their operations.

“Public sector organizations have long experienced inflexible, legacy ERP systems, hindering their ability to support open government, compliance requirements and fiscal accountability,” Johnson said.

“Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 will support these requirements at the rapid pace government organizations need to better serve their citizens.”

The software giant underlines that Dynamics AX 2012 was built to meet the requirements issued of both the Governmental Accounting Standards Board and International Public Sector Accounting Standards.

The company also enumerated a range of partners ready to help public sector organizations make the jump to Dynamics AX 2012, including BroadPoint Technologies, Crowe Horwath LLP, RSM McGladrey Inc., Tribridge and Tyler Technologies Inc.

“Unlike our previous JD Edwards solution, which required separate systems for our customers to manage things like procurement, budgetary control and comprehensive reporting, with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 we have the ability to reconcile all systems and departments in a single solution, allowing us to focus more on our real jobs,” added Mike Bailey, director of Finance and Information Services for the City of Redmond.

“Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 is the comprehensive and easy-to-use ERP solution we have been waiting for.”

Of course, customers will still need to wait a tad before getting their hands on Dynamics AX 2012. The ERP solution continues to be in development at this point in time, although its right on track for finalization within the next three months.

Microsoft expects Dynamics AX 2012 RTM to wrapped up and available commercially in August 2011.
