Dying Light developer Techland has revealed that it will be releasing a neat little offering for fans of its open-world zombie survival video game sometime soon.

The game takes place in a quarantined fictional city, in the wake of a deadly viral outburst that sees the population turned into mindless killing machines, known in popular culture as zombies.

Players take on the role of an undercover agent sent to infiltrate the danger zone and recover some crucial documents, that could potentially impact the fate of mankind.

The game mainly deals in running around and climbing buildings and in smashing, bludgeoning, slashing and shooting zombies, with the occasional human survivor thrown into the mix, as well as a deadly faction of outlaws hampering your plans at every step.

The news comes from a tweet on the official Dying Light Twitter account, showing that the company is planning to release a Hard Mode and some new skins soon, free of charge, for owners of the acclaimed video game.

Techland is preparing a brutal surprise

Techland has already ensured the longevity of its video game, announcing that it is currently working on some free modding tools to make would-be modders' lives easier when trying to add new content to the game or to alter the gameplay paradigms in any way they see fit.

Now it looks like the studio is set to make the game more challenging for its fans, with an upcoming Hard Mode patch, allegedly coming out sometime in March, for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Techland has decided to do this because most of their fans have already finished the game by now, mastering all of its challenges, and are now asking for more.

The upcoming Hard Mode will increase the challenge of the game by having fewer resources and supplies scattered around the city for players to scavenge, and will feature beefed-up zombies, so players will have to rely on stealth and silence much more than in the regular version.
