Dying Light, the upcoming first-person zombie action game from Techland, has a special pre-order bonus in the form of a multiplayer mode called "Be the Zombie" that lets players control a new type of zombie called Night Hunter.

Dying Light promises to deliver a next-gen zombie experience in which players can not only use different weapons against the undead but also parkour and free-running skills to navigate the environment by day and to escape the zombies by night.

While the title is set to appear in 2014, it can already be pre-ordered in North America and those who do this will receive a special bonus multiplayer mode called "Be the Zombie."

The online experience lets players take control of a creature called the Night Hunter that can infiltrate the regular competitive matches inside the game.

“The special ‘Be the Zombie’ PvP game mode provides gamers the ability to stalk other players as a night hunter, a lethal predator with unique and deadly skills like superhuman speed, a tendril used to grapple around the game world, special charge and distance attacks, and more,” a statement from Techland and Warner Bros. said.

“As an extremely rare zombie mutation, the night hunter is an agile, fast and dangerous enemy who emerges nocturnally in order to prevent the destruction of Hives by killing humans. By playing as a night hunter, gamers will earn experience points and develop the character through its own special skill tree, as well as earn other exclusive rewards and perks.”

We got to try out Dying Light at Gamescom 2013 on the PlayStation 4 and were quite impressed with the great mix of zombie survival action and free-running, with players being quite mobile while navigating the environment.

Dying Light is set to appear in 2014 for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, as well as for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
