Up against Kobe Bryant

Electronic Arts, through its EA Sports division, has announced that it has chosen the star who would be on the cover of NBA Live 10 videogame. The basketball simulation is set to be brought to gamers by Dwight Howard, the center that plays for the Orlando Magic. NBA Live 10 should arrive for the PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation Portable.

Dwight Howard himself stated that “It’s an honor to be named as the cover athlete for NBA LIVE 10. This year has been a crazy ride and this is a cool way to cap it off. Of course - there is one more thing I’m on the hunt for that would complete it.”

The Orlando Magic star will not be the only athlete to appear on the cover, as Electronic Arts is planning to release region specific versions of NBA Live 10 for France, Spain and the United Kingdom each with a different cover.

Howard is one of the most decorated players of the NBA. He has been named in the All Star team three times and was the first pick in the 2004 NBA draft. He also has a gold medal at the Olympic Games in Beijing with the national team of the United States and was named best defensive player of the year in 2009.

Despite the fact that Orland Magic lost its chance at the first championship, losing out in the fifth game against the Los Angeles Lakers, Howard is still one of the best players in the franchise.

It's quite interesting to see that the main duel of the NBA finals, that pitting Dwight Howard against Kobe Bryant, will be replicated when it comes to duels between videogames, as Kobe is on the cover of NBA 2K10, while Howard has been chosen by Electronic Arts for NBA Live 10. We'll see later in the fall who/which one has the upper hand.
