It has been known for quite some time that Dwyne Johnson was attached to an upcoming DC Comics superhero film, but the big question remained what role in particular he would be playing in the film. For months, there has been speculation, as media outlets threw in their best guesses, but few ever came close.

Then, last month, Dwyne began teasing his fans with photos on his Twitter account, depicting comic book scenes with various characters. He kept fans and the media guessing between superhero Shazam and villain Black Adam.

Today, it's been revealed that Johnson chose to play the bad guy for once, Black Adam, Shazam's Arch-nemesis. The announcement has been made in typical pompous fashion for the “Hercules” actor, “‘Kneel at his feet or get crushed by his boot.’ My honor to become.. #BlackAdam #TheAntiHero #DCComics.”

The post has been accompanied by a comic book drawing of his character, taking on Shazam in an epic struggle. In a press conference in Mexico City to promote his latest movie, “Hercules,” Johnson told the members of the media that “I am putting my heart and soul and my bones into this role.”

In a previous interview, the actor confessed that he was a big fan of DC anti-heroes and that Black Adam always tickled his fancy, but he never let on which role he was going to choose until the very last minute.
