The Duke Lemur Center in Durham, US has recently announced the birth of two baby lemurs. What's more, it's been courteous enough to release pictures of the two rascals.

Sources say the tiny creatures were born at this animal sanctuary about three weeks ago, on June 18. At that time, they each weighed merely 5 grams (about 0.2 ounces).

Since then, they've put on an impressive amount of weight. Thus, baby girl Scuppernong now weighs 44 grams (1.5 ounces) , and baby boy Filbert tips the scale at 32 grams (roughly 1.6 ounces).

Their keepers explain that, judging by the baby lemurs' behavior when around people and alone in their enclosure, Filbert is much more adventurous than his sister.

Apparently, the latter is rather shy, and spends most of her time hidden inside the nest box.
