Hey, it's about Britney Spears again! No! Please don't go away, I know you're sick of her but reading this article might help you protect your computer! So, here's what this is all about: a new scam campaign was identified by security vendor Sophos as it attempts to trick users into downloading and accessing some attachments that claim to contain a nude Britney Spears clip. We've heard of this in the past but it seems that the spammers missed the news and didn't find out that Britney Spears is not popular anymore.

Mark Harris, Director of SophosLabs, wrote on the security company's blog that the email incorporates a ZIP format attachment claiming to contain a "New Britney naked video". If downloaded, the attachment is blocked by the antivirus technologies which identify it as Troj/Pushdo-Gen.

"This weekend was no exception with the lastest Pushdo offering "New Britney naked video", then asking you to 'Check zip file in attachment'", the Sophos official wrote. "Does anyone fall for this? Judging from the number of times the same theme is used, the answer is probably "Yes". This latest Britney themed malware was detected proactively as Troj/Pushdo-Gen."

Troj/Pushdo-Gen is a Trojan horse affecting the Windows operating systems which attempts to drop more malware on the affected computers and download some infected codes from the web. At this time, most antivirus solutions already provide protection against this threat so it shouldn't be a problem if you keep your security tool up-to-date with the latest virus definitions.

Britney Spears has always been a popular singer and this obviously gave the attackers the chance to use her name in scams and spam campaigns. Every once in a while, we could see emails claiming to contain exclusive sexy photos with her, videos or clips but, in fact, they were only some threats supposed to harm your computer.
