Ever since Apple first announced the transition to Intel processors, many have reasoned that with the processor architecture being the same, one would, by owning a Mac, be able to have access to both operating systems.

When the first Intel based Macs came out, there was much wailing as Apple went with EFI and that was not supported by Windows XP, also, the new Macs use 32-bit processors so using the Vista preview that did have EFI support was out of the question. Recently, Microsoft announced that EFI support in Vista will come much, much later, which had at the time dashed the dreams and hopes of those wanting to get Windows running on their Macs.

Recently, a certain 'narf2006' posted images on his Flickr Account, and then a video of Windows XP installing and booting on an Intel Mac. Everyone was skeptical as pictures posted on the Internet can easily be manipulated and the view could be nothing more than a full screen movie playing, but it seems that it is the real deal.

Engaget reports that Colin Nederkoorn has verified and replicated the solution that 'narf2006' and his fellow programmer 'blanka' have come up with for dual booting Windows XP and OS X on an Intel based Mac. It seems that the two will be receiving the $13,000 prize that was put up and the community will be getting their hands on the solution soon. Apparently, this method of getting Windows to dual boot on the Mac will be compatible with the new iMac, MacBook Pro and Mac mini.
