Indian OEM iBall has just announced the upcoming availability of another mid-range Android smartphone, the Andi 5T Cobalt 2. The device has yet to hit shelves, but the Indian company has confirmed that it will sell for only Rs 11,999 ($200 / €145) outright.

According to AndroidOS, iBall Andi 5T Cobalt 2 should go on sale in the coming days via major retailers across the country. The smartphone is part of the company’s Andi family of mid-range devices, so Android enthusiasts shouldn’t expect any impressive features other than the camera.

Surprisingly, iBall has managed to fit the Andi 5T Cobalt 2 with a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera that features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording. The number of megapixels embedded into the camera is rather odd, as most Android devices pack either 8 or 12-megapixel photo snappers.

Nevertheless, iBall Andi 5T Cobalt 2’s camera is not the only interesting feature that the smartphone offers Android enthusiasts. It appears that the device sports a 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display, which is not unusual for a mid-range smartphone.

The good news is that Andi 5T Cobalt 2’s display supports HD (720p) resolution, which is a strong sale point for a smartphone in the $200 price range.

Another positive aspect is the fact that it supports dual-SIM capability, which is mandatory for Android smartphones launched in India. The dual-SIM capability is doubled by dual standby support and 3G connectivity, which allows for faster data transfers and video calls.

Speaking of which, besides the 12-megapixel camera on the back, the iBall Andi 5T Cobalt 2 also packs a 2-megapixel camera in the front that should allow users to take decent selfies.

Hardware-wise, iBall’s mid-range smartphone is quite decent as the phone has a quad-core MediaTek processor clocked at 1.3GHz, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory.

In addition, the smartphone offers microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB), along with various connectivity options, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS with A-GPS support.

It is also worth mentioning that iBall Andi 5T Cobalt 2 measures 146 x 73.5 x 8.9 mm and weighs around 144 grams (battery included). The phone’s 1750 mAh battery has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.

Keep in mind that iBall Andi 5T Cobalt 2 will ship with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, and it is likely to remain on this version of Android until it gets discontinued.
