After revealing the Aqua i5 HD, Indian OEM Intex Technologies seems ready to launch another mid-range Android smartphone, the Aqua i5 Mini.

As the name suggests, this is the smaller version of the Aqua i5 HD, so it’s clear that it will come with a smaller display and slightly lower specs.

Intex announced that the Aqua i5 HD would be available for purchase in India for Rs 9,990 outright, which is about $165 or €120. This means the mini version will be priced much cheaper considering its specs.

Speaking of which, the most obvious difference between the two mid-range smartphones is the size of the display. While the HD version sports an impressive 5-inch screen, the mini variant comes with a smaller, 4.5-inch touchscreen display.

The quality of the displays is different as well. While the better smartphone comes with an HD (720p) capacitive touchscreen display, the Aqua i5 Mini sports a 4.5-inch FWGA (854 x 480 pixels) resolution display, which is a bit disappointing.

Hopefully, the low quality of the screen will be reflected in the price, which should be much lower. Anyway, the Aqua i5 Mini has already made its entrance on Intex’s official website, so it won’t be long until the Indian company announces the smartphone.

The main advantage is that we already know the phone’s main specs, which are listed on its store page. According to the listing, Intex Aqua i5 Mini is equipped with a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor, a Mali 400 graphics processor unit, and 1GB of RAM.

The smartphone also packs 4GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card. On the back, the Aqua i5 sports an impressive 8-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash, and full HD (1080p) video recording.

In the front, there’s a secondary 2-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. As expected, the device offers dual-SIM (GSM / WCDMA) capability with dual standby support.

Other connectivity options that have been confirmed by Intex include 3G and Wi-Fi, along with USB, Wi-Fi tethering, GPS with A-GPS support, and Bluetooth.

Intex Aqua i5 Mini will ship with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, as well as with lots of apps and services. Some of these have already been listed on the official website: Intex Cloud, Intex Zone, big flix, get it, greet zap, hungama, NQ mobile security, NQ Vault , Quickr, Saavn, Opera mini, Sony liv, and Zapak.
