14 DAY TRIAL // One of last year's most popular budget-friendly smartphones in Australia, the dual-SIM Bauhn is about to go on sale at ALDI store once again.
AusDroid reports the smartphone will be available for purchase beginning January 8 for a much lower price than last year when Bauhn was up for grabs for $200 (€130) off contract.
Well, beginning next week, customers will be able to buy the Bauhn smartphone for only $150 (€100) upfront, which is a pretty good price considering the handset's specs sheet.
First of all, Bauhn will ship with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box and is likely to stay on this version until it reaches end of life status.
These types of affordable handsets never receive major software updates due to their low cost, which means manufacturers prefer their customers to switch to a new device after a certain time instead of waiting for a software upgrade.
Obviously, there are some exceptions, but Bauhn is not of them so don't expect this cheap smartphone to receive any major software updates in the future.
Hardware-wise, Bauhn is pretty decent and, from what we’ve heard, pretty reliable. It comes equipped with a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, which is complemented by 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory.
Users will be able to further expand storage up to 32GB via microSD memory card. It is also worth mentioning that the smartphone sports a 4.3-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution.
On the back, Bauhn packs a 5-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus and video recording, while in the front there's a secondary VGA camera for video calls.
The smartphone offers the standard range of connectivity options, including Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth, microUSB and built-in GPS.
Customers looking for a dual-SIM Android device may want to give this one a try, but keep in mind Bauhn will only be available for one week beginning January 8, or until sold out.
