Entourage has been a presence on the e-reader market for a while, but only now has it gotten around to actually start shipping the Pocket eDGe e-book reader, la product ikely set to compete against the Huawei S7 and Samsung Galaxy Tab.

The Entourage pocket eDGe is a smaller version of the eDGe clamshell and is, basically, a dual-screen e-reader made up of two displays.

One of said displays is a 6-inch E ink screen with a native resolution of 800 x 600 pixels, while the other one is a 7-inch color resistive touchscreen.

There is also a Wacom active digitizer and the aforementioned touchscreen supports both finger and stylus input.

Furthermore, the electronic has 3 GB of internal storage, as well as a microSD card slot and a microUSB port.

Among the supported file types are EPUB and PDF (the list is, of course, longer), plus, of course, audio files, otherwise the the integrated headphones socket would not have any use.

Entourage also went to the trouble of throwing in WiFi, Bluetooth and the Android operating system.

Granted, the company did not leave the OS as it was, choosing to, instead, make some additions, such as the possibility of fliping web pages over form the LCD top the E-Ink.

This should allow annotations and the act of reading itself to be done more easily.

“Consumers are becoming increasingly mobile and demand technologies and information access regardless of their location,” said Asghar Mostafa, CEO of enTourage Systems, Inc.

“The Pocket eDGe is compact and lightweight, but full of all of the features and tools an on-the-go user would need for work, school or recreation anytime, anywhere,” Mostafa added.

The product has been available for pre-order on Amazon for some time, but sales are finally starting, though it will fall to customers to decide whether the $399.99 price is convenient enough.
