With the netbook market having established itself as a major part of the PC segment, it is always just a matter of time until a new one comes out, and Gigabyte seems to be getting ready for such an announcement of its own.

While the consumer base is waiting on all the new PC platforms to come out, the makers of systems are doing their best to 'fill the void' with new products.

Gigabyte decided it would push its newest entry-level laptop as close as it could to the performance that next-generation netbooks are expected to have.

As such, the so-called M1005 is powered by a dual-core central processing unit and matching memory, storage and connectivity options.

The CPU in question is the Intel Atom N550, whose frequency is of 1.5 GHz.

In this case, it is backed up by 1 or 2 GB of RAM and paired with the Intel GMA (Graphics Media Accelerator) 3150 integrated graphics.

Additionally, storage space is provided by a hard disk drive, whose capacity can be of 250 GB or 320 GB, depending on user choice and financial resources.

As one would expect, the LED-backlit LCD (liquid crystal display) has a diagonal of 10.1 inches, its panel resolution being of 1,024 x 600 pixels.

As for connectivity and I/O, Gigabyte implemented the obligatory Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 3.0, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and a 4-in-1 card reader.

Additionally, there are a pair of built-in 1.5W speakers, as well as a 1.3 megapixel webcam, plus three USB 2.0 ports, D-sub and a Kensington lock.

Finally, the company packed all the hardware inside a frame measuring 265(W) x 191(D) x 30.5(H) mm and the machine runs on the power provided by a 4-cell battery.

Unfortunately, even though the M1005 already has its product page set up, there is no word on availability or pricing.
