The 40-year-old man doesn't get why he was arrested, insists the police were wrong when they took him into custody

Everybody knows that drinking and driving is against the law and that those who are in the habit of sipping one too many cocktails and then getting behind the wheel have high chances to spend a few nights behind bars. Apparently, the same is true about riding a horse while inebriated.

A man in the US learned this the hard way when he was taken into police custody and thrown in jail after officers caught him wandering through Kentucky's Floyd County intoxicated and atop a horse.

The man doesn't get what all the fuss is about

It was this past Monday that the cowboy wannabe, identified as 40-year-old Michael Kimmel, was found riding a horse drunk and wearing just a hat, jeans and boots.

When the police first approached him, the man dismounted and made a run for it. The officers who handled this case didn't chase after him. As it turns out, they did well not to waste precious energy.

Thus, just hours later, they once again crossed paths with 40-year-old Michael Kimmel, who had in the meantime gotten back on his trusty steed. Soon enough, the man was handcuffed.

Rather than cooperate, the man refused to take a breath and blood alcohol test. “I didn't do [expletive], I was just riding my horse,” the 40-year-old told the officers, as cited by DM.

Since he was clearly inebriated, as evidenced by his poignant body odor and poor motor skills, the man was nonetheless arrested, put behind bars and, oddly enough, charged with DUI.

By the looks of it, the man is convinced that the police officers were wrong to arrest him and that he did nothing wrong when he decided to ride his horse despite being seriously drunk.

This wasn't the man's first run-in with the law

At the time when he was found riding around Floyd County intoxicated and shirtless, Michael Kimmel was on probation for burglary. Otherwise put, he was supposed to be on his best behavior.

Now that he is back behind bars, the 40-year-old is being kept on $5,000 (about €4,670) cash bond. Apart from the DUI charges, he stands accused of fleeing and trying to evade the police.
