The iOS version of Dropbox has been updated with support for iOS 4.2, the upcoming software update for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. In addition to supporting the latest version of Apple’s mobile OS, Dropbox 1.3.1 adds persistent photo caching, higher quality thumbnails on retinas devices, and more.

Dropbox is a popular cloud-based service that allows owners of multiple devices (including PCs and mobile phones) to keep their most important files in sync, anywhere they are at a given time.

By adding one file on the PC, for example, the user will see that file appear on their mobile phone as well, as long as the Dropbox app is installed on both of them.

The iPhone version of the Dropbox application capable of displaying photos, videos, documents, and even presentations, while users can save files locally for offline view.

A noteworthy feature - it boasts enables the user to swipe their way through photo galleries.

The app requires a Dropbox account. Those who don’t already have one will be guided by the app to create one for free. A free account offers 2GB of storage. Paid plans are available for 50 GB and 100 GB of storage.
