Update adds CPU improvements to LAN sync

Evenflow Inc., the company developing one of our favorite Mac apps, has released a new update for Dropbox, hoping to improve performance, LAN sync, CPU-use, transfer speed... the usual. Dropbox, for those who aren’t very familiar with the software, is a powerful, cross-platform, file-sharing & backup solution that enables users to have all their important files at hand, wherever they may be.

Dropbox is a service + application available in both free and paid form. As the user downloads Dropbox and makes an account, 2GB of space are automatically assigned to them to employ for any purpose whatsoever. A user owning more than one computer with Mac OS X, Windows or Linux installed can install Dropbox on each computer and stop emailing files to themselves, moving them using flash drives. Dropbox eliminates this fuss by creating a folder whose contents are automatically synced on every computer as the user makes modifications.

An iPhone version of the app is also available, enabling them to add / modify files via the desktop or web interface, and see those changes reflected on the iPhone. It works the other way around as well. The mobile app also offers a “favorites” feature, allowing users to save files to the iPhone’s memory for offline access. With the release of Dropbox 0.6.570 for Mac OS X, they will see the following changes, Evenflow says:

· Significant performance/CPU improvements to LAN sync; · Much better transfer speed and remaining time calculation, noticeable improvement for LAN Sync; · Yet another attempt to fix lingering Office 2007/sharing violation bug; · Fix for failed OS integration on some Windows machines.

A few minor stability fixes have also been incorporated in this release, Evenflow adds, also encouraging users to provide feedback on the CPU-related improvements and the Office 2007 bug. The new version is immediately available for free download using the link below.
