Droid Zap by Motorola, one of the photo sharing applications that has been available for the owners of Android-based devices for a while now, is currently offering its features to more handsets.

The app was released with a focus on Motorola’s DROID handsets, which means that its main functionality, namely that of sharing images, was available only to those who had one of these phones.

However, the latest update for the mobile client is meant to expand the availability of this feature to all of the supported smartphones, regardless of their manufacturer.

“Now any Android phone can send and receive photos! SImply download the Droid Zap App,” the software’s release notes unveil.

On top of that, the app’s description reveals that DROID devices running under Android Jelly Bean or higher platform versions can also enjoy Zap Zone, a feature designed to allow multiple people “to share pictures at your next party.”

“Simply Zap the invite to your friends and your smartphones are magically connected. Any pictures you take or your friends take will automatically be shared for the duration of the Zap Zone,” Motorola explains.

In order to use the application, however, users will need a Google ID, and they will also have to sign into the software with it.

Droid Zap will provide users with the possibility to easily share with people around them not only photos, but videos as well.

“With a simple swipe of the screen, your phone searches for other android phones in your area that also have the Zap App. You can then send and receive files either publicly or with pin-protection,” Motorola explains.

The software will take advantage of a smartphone’s GPS/Wi-Fi functionality to recognize users’ location. According to Motorola, connection to a data network is also needed in order to download shared photos and videos.

You can download Droid Zap by Motorola from the official Google Play Store.
