Publisher Ubisoft has announced that two of its most high profile titles, Driver: San Francisco and Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, have been delayed from the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2011 to an unspecified date in 2012.

The new Ghost Recon video game has been announced back in February for the PlayStation 3 from Sony, the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and the PC and in May the publisher said that it would arrive in the early months of 2011.

The game will probably be prepared to launch at some point during the fall of 2011.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will allow the gamer to use advanced technology, from cloacking fields, with effects that can be extended to squad mates to exoscheletons.

Driver: San Francisco is under development at the Reflections studio and was initially announced in June.

The game will feature the driving action familiar to the series but the main protagonist will be in a coma at the beginning of the game, with his “spirit” able to take over drivers on the road in order to achieve his objectives.

Initially Driver was set for the holiday season and has since been pushed back to July 2011.

Ubisoft has not offered clear reasons for the new delays but they are probably linked to both the pretty heavy launch schedule of early 2011, with heavy hitters like Killzone 3, Shogun 2 or Dragon Age 2, and to the need for the game to be better polished when they are released.

On the upside Ubisoft has also confirmed that pre orders for the upcoming Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood are up by more than one quarter over the previous title in the series.

Brotherhood is the first video game in the series which will include a multiplayer mode where players will stalk each other and look for assassination opportunities.
